AI Act essentials for managers
Situation
The situation
What the European regulation asks, and how to check it.
You run a 30-employee transport company in Orléans. The team uses AI every day. You want to write a simple note on what the AI Act asks of the company.
Idea 1 of 3
Article 4: AI literacy
The AI Act is the European regulation on AI. Its Article 4 asks companies that use AI to take measures to support the AI literacy of their staff. No specific level has to be guaranteed, and no certificate is required.
Idea 2 of 3
Article 50: say when it is AI
Since 2 August 2026, Article 50 has required transparency: a chatbot must say that it is an AI, and some generated content must be labelled.
Idea 3 of 3
Check the official texts
AI can summarise a law badly or cite an article that does not exist. A model does not always know about recent changes (prices, laws). For a note to the team, check each point in the official text (EUR-Lex) or on the European Commission’s website.
Example
Before and after
Explain the AI Act to me.
Write a one-page note for the team on what the AI Act asks of our transport company: AI training (Article 4), our usage rules, and Article 50 if we add a chatbot. For each point, give the official reference to check.
Why? The note targets the team, covers training and rules, and each point refers to an official source to check.
