Long documents and images
Situation
The situation
Have a long contract or a photo read without losing anything.
You handle the admin of a transport SME in Rouen. You receive a 40-page truck rental contract, and photos of fuel receipts to file.
Idea 1 of 3
The context window
A model can only read a certain amount of text at once: this is its context window. It is counted in tokens: a token is often a piece of a word, a few characters long. A long contract can exceed it, or drown the details.
Idea 2 of 3
Part by part
For a long document, send it part by part (on aidock, a message has a maximum length), have each part summarised, then ask for an overall synthesis. Each part is read carefully, and you know where each point comes from.
Idea 3 of 3
Images too
Some models read images: their page on aidock says “Reads images”. The aidock chat does not accept images yet: use a tool that reads them, and check where your data goes. Also check the amount and the date: a blurry photo can mislead.
Example
Before and after
Summarise this contract.
I will send you this contract part by part. Summarise each part in 3 lines, with the number of the clause or section. At the end, write a synthesis: term, price, penalties and termination conditions.
Why? Each part is read carefully, each point can be found in the contract by its number, and the synthesis gives the essentials.
Question 1 of 3
What is the context window?
See the answer
The amount of text a model can read at once Beyond its context window, a model loses track of part of the text.
Question 2 of 3
You want a photo of a receipt read. Which model do you choose?
See the answer
A model that reads images Only a model that reads images can handle a photo.
Question 3 of 3
The model has read the amount on a receipt photo. What do you do?
See the answer
You compare it with the receipt before saving it A figure misread on a blurry photo easily slips through. A quick look is enough to check it.
